February Fitness Challenge

The fitness challenge in January was simply to get you moving, and because it was a “miles challenge” gave advantage to those biking. In February, the exercise or activity you choose and the intensity in which you do it will make a big difference in how soon, or if, you reach your goal.

In February we have a CALORIE CHALLENGE! Burn the equivalent of one pound of fat….3500 calories.

This challenge will even the playing field for all forms of activities or exercise. Those doing low intensity exercise/intensity will spend much more time to reach this goal compared to those doing “real cardio” which burns many more calories. This could be a learning experience for many, when you see how many calories you are actually burning with various choices.

If you are wanting to be healthier or leaner than you are now, the calories burned should be over and above your current fitness program or activities of daily living. The choice is yours though…this is a personal challenge, not a contest.

Everyone in this challenge will be responsible for keeping track of your calories burned. You can do this by using a device on your wrist (Apple watch/Fitbit), the computer display on your cardio equipment, or by using a calorie counting calculator by clicking here. None of these are 100% accurate but we are doing this for fun, so who cares. I encourage you to make a plan, based on the activity and intensity level of your choice, so that your goal is realistic. It will be easy to think “I got this”, only to find out that you might be burning half the calories that you thought you were.

Each week I will have you report your total calories burned for the month, along with what activities/exercise you are doing.

Like last month, there will be the “Committed” group and the “Cray Cray Committed” group.

Commited Group….must burn 3500 calories in the month of February.

Cray Cray Group…must burn 5000+ calories for the month.

Everyone is welcome to participate, but only active Sensible Fitness clients will be shown in our weekly updates.
